YOUR GUIDE
Joel Ordesky
VP of Technology
Wexler
Because Wexler is one of the premiere rental houses on the West
Coast, offering a range of end-to-end packages for HD, ENG and studio
production and post, we asked Joel Ordesky to build us three
cost-variable packages for Sony’s newest SD camera, the PDW-530 XDCAM.
Joel Says Keep in Mind…
Kit 1 – This is a basic ENG-style package. With this package, you are as well
equipped (or better) then most network news crews. This package lacks
wireless mics and a wide-angle lens which, depending on your needs, you
might want to add.
Kit 2 – This basic field package is suitable for most, if not all, video
production needs. It includes a wide-angle lens with 2x extender, a
matte box, a 20-inch client/producer monitor, a Softbank light kit and
wireless microphone for talent, and a producer monitoring IFB system.
Kit 3 – This package includes a host of cine accessories: follow focus, micro
force, cine-style View Finder, O’Conner tripod head, broadcast critical
monitor, waveform/Vector scope (for checking your shots) and a Rm-B150
Paint Box. If working with crew who are used to film cameras and more
of a film look, consider using the film-style ( CineAlta) lens,
complete with T-stop markings.
