At IBC, Quantel debuted The Pablo Suite, a tightly integrated package
of color-correction hardware and software tools based on the company's
next-generation Eiger hardware and software while also borrowing from
Quantel's popular eQ and iQ products. It serves as a complete digital
intermediate system.
Quantel said the Pablo Suite was designed with input from colorists who
have been using Quantel's QColor in-context grading option within iQ
and eQ since 2003.
Pablo systems include Integrated Concurrent Processing (ICP), which
speeds up rendering time. Quantel says ICP integrates a second Eiger
Media Engine into the iQ and eQ systems, allowing it to anticipate the
operator's intentions and deliver real-time system response.
For example, a colorist using an ICP-equipped eQ or iQ can adjust the
settings on one shot and then instantly start work on another. The
first shot processes in the background while the second is set up.
The company announced three Pablo models, designed to meet a variety of
color-correction applications: the eQ Pablo Suite is for HD
applications, the iQ2 Pablo Suite handles 2K digital intermediates, and
the iQ4 Pablo Suite is for everything up to and including 4K DI
projects.
