A NEW WAY TO PULL UNWANTED MUSIC FROM ARCHIVAL CLIPS

Finding the right archival clip is one thing-clearing the secondary
music rights to the audio track that runs beneath it is quite another.
There’s finally an alternative to all the hair pulling: Let the folks
at MSS-New York, a full-service post house in Manhattan, "erase" it for
you. Their novel service, which grew out of Fuji Television’s technical
division, pulls out copyrighted or outmoded tracks, leaving the
previously mixed voice-over, sound effects and original dialogue alone.
All you need to do is remix in a new soundtrack-preferably one that’s
already been cleared, is royalty-free, or is your own creation. For an
added fee, MSS will replace the erased track and add extra effects or
voice-over material.
The facility is offering a free trial on 10-second video clips; call 212-949-2834 or visit www.mssnewyork.com/me/index.html to learn more.
