For maximum real-time performance, RT Extreme with Dynamic RT can automatically adjust image quality and frame rate during playback.
Comprehensive editing tools. Professional editing and trimming tools are designed to let editors work quickly without sacrificing precision. Work efficiently as well as accurately by customizing the keyboard and user interface to fi t your workflow. Editorial workgroups can pair Final Cut Pro 5 with Xsan, the SAN file system for Mac OS X. Use Xsan to save time by capturing once, then sharing media with multiple editors. Facilities around the world are using the open, standardsbased XML interchange format to build complete production workfl ow solutions around Final Cut Pro 5.
Expanded Format Support
One of the hallmarks of Final Cut Pro 5 is that you can use it to edit virtually anything, from DV all the way up to full uncompressed 8- and 10-bit high defi nition video. Final Cut Pro has added even more support for leading digital formats in this new release.
Native HDV editing. Take advantage of the latest high defi nition camera technology with support for native HDV editing. Edit camera-original long GOP MPEG-2 video from HDV cameras; Final Cut Pro 5 makes HDV as easy to work with as regular DV while preserving maximum image quality. Input and output over FireWire and edit in real time with more than 150 effects, filters, and transitions. Use Digital Cinema Desktop for full-screen HD preview monitoring.
Native IMX editing. IMX, an 8-bit, 4:2:2 SD format, is one of Sony’s professional broadcast formats used worldwide. Bring in IMX video at 30, 40, or 50 Mbps using third-party software such as Flip4Mac from Telestream, which “flips” MXF files to QuickTime without transcoding. Final Cut Pro 5 edits at 50 Mbps to ensure the best possible quality, no matter which version of IMX video you bring in.
Panasonic P2 support. Tapeless formats make it possible to transfer media directly from the storage device into the Final Cut Pro Browser, allowing you to bypass a lengthy log-and-capture process. Final Cut Pro 5 supports the high-speed tapeless ingest of video from Panasonic P2 card’based media storage devices. Use P2 cards to transfer DVCPRO, DVCPRO 50, and DVCPRO HD video.
Cinema Tools 3. Final Cut Pro 5 includes Cinema Tools 3, a database-driven application that tracks the relationship between a fi lm source and its digitized video counterpart. Cinema Tools 3 makes fi lm production easier and more accurate than ever through direct integration with Final Cut Pro 5. View feet and frames in the Final Cut Pro 5 Timeline; see keycode and ink numbers in the Viewer, Canvas, and Browser. Synchronize Final Cut Pro 5 projects with Cinema Tools 3 databases for up-to-the-minute accuracy.
