Press Release

Wild(child) Post has added editor Nick Tomnay to its growing roster of internationally cultivated talent. Hailing from Australia, Tomnay brings versatility and an artfully energetic style to wild(child), sporting extreme commercial-cutting talent for action, humor, drama, suspense and beyond.
Tomnay comes to high-end editorial boutique wild(child) from GoodOil films in Sydney. While there, he developed a reputation for creating cuts that packed a punch. “My editing style has been called ‘punk rock’,” Tomnay says. “I tend to favor cuts that are sort of deliberate ‘ they emphasize the power of the spot to make a point. My work is diverse, but when you look at it as a whole, the punk description makes sense ‘ it’s a ‘bang!’ style that comes out of me.
“I’m fortunate, because that’s a very good fit for commercials. It’s editing that’s arresting, emotional, and is going to make sure you notice what’s on the screen. That’s what advertising is about.”
In addition to his critically acclaimed editing, Tomnay’s deep experience as a director, writer, and producer explain how he brings a cinematographer’s eye to each project. “Those experiences definitely influenced me on a visual level,” Tomnay says. “My favorite assignments have filmic elements, which open the door for editing ideas that serve the script: That’s how advertising can have cinematic sensibilities, but still communicate something directly and effectively in a short amount of time.”
For Tomnay, the sharp style and luxurious creature comforts of the wild(child) facility are the perfect place to add to his list of clients, a lineup that includes agencies Saatchi & Saatchi, Y&R, Ogilvy, Leo Burnett, McCann Erickson, DDB, FCB, and J Walther Thompson for internationally recognized brands such as McDonalds, Travelodge, and Lucky Strike. “I love wild(child)’s reel and they’ve made me feel very welcome here,” he notes. “The closer was working in this space: It’s open with lots of natural light, and a fascinating mixture of retro and futuristic together. It’s the sort of place you want to inhabit.”
For wild(child), which offers elite editing, graphics, inferno/flame, and audio services for broadcast, Tomnay is a prized addition to their growing editorial team. “wild(child) consistently attracts talent that is young and vivacious,” concludes Daria Zeliger, Director of Sales for wild(child). “Nick Tomnay is an incredible storyteller who takes chances, and his sense of rhythm and timing are impeccable. He’s an awesome Aussie!”
