Press Release

Boris FX, the leading developer of integrated effects technology for video and film production, today announced the availability of version 4.0 of Boris Continuum Complete (BCC). BCC is a comprehensive suite of native filters and transitions for Adobe After Effects, Adobe Premiere Pro, Apple Final Cut Pro, Apple Motion, Autodesk combustion, Eyeon Fusion and Boris Red systems.
Not just a filter suite, Continuum Complete extends the capabilities of NLE and compositing workstations with over 160 effects. With an intuitive native host interface and support for multi-processor and OpenGL acceleration, users can quickly create sophisticated multi-layer composites with robust tools for keying, lighting, color and even temporal effects. “BCC 4.0 further leverages the technologies and imaging processing algorithms of Boris Red and Blue, our flagship 3D and compositing solutions,” said Boris FX founder and president Boris Yamnitsky. “With updated host support and significant new features, users continue to benefit from our unsurpassed host integration, including more accurate motion tracking.” Among the new features of version 4 is the Motion Key filter that isolates and removes moving foreground objects based on motion vector field of the source footage. This filter, along with the new Optical Stabilizer, continues the Optical Flow development first introduced in the version 3 Optical Flow and Motion Blur filters. Also new is the OGL-based Image Shatter, which takes advantage of modern graphics cards to accelerate 3D rendering.
New Features include:
  • Improved Motion Tracker provides increased accuracy with four-point tracking.
  • New filters include Color Match, Halftone, Median, Motion Key, Corner Pin Tracker, Optical Stabilizer and an OpenGL-based 3D Extruded Image Shatter.
  • Updated host support includes Apple Final Cut Pro 5, Apple Motion 2.01, Autodesk Combustion 4, and Eyeon Fusion version 5; Adobe After Effects version 7.0 will be supported once it is released.
  • Support for Macintosh OS X Tiger.
  • New Motion Key technology removes moving foreground objects based on motion estimation.
  • Hundreds of new presets are included.
  • Settings remain fully compatible with the version 3.0 release.
  • Easy-to-use licensing includes Electronic Software Download (ESD) and a 14-day trial version.
BCC filters and transitions apply and animate directly in the native host interface. More than 160 sophisticated filters include Lens Flare, Glint, Glare, DeGrain, Match Grain, DeNoise, DeInterlace, Optical Flow, Motion Blur, Glow, Wire Remover, and Witness Protection. Continuum Complete offers powerful integration features including built-in motion tracking and the unique PixelChooser technology that creates region- or channel-based masks. Hundreds of presets and integrated online help provide precise effects creation with a minimal learning curve. Continuum Complete 4.0 provides a powerful and complimentary feature set for the host systems. Whenever possible, custom integration provides specific benefits to each host. For example, in Apple Final Cut Pro, you can apply BCC as a generator, filter or transition; static generators play in real time on supported systems. The Adobe After Effects production bundle and Autodesk Combustion both support 16-bit-per-channel media. After Effects users can use AE masks within the PixelChooser masking tool. A single license of BCC can be installed into all supported hosts on a system. Boris Continuum Complete version 4 and other Boris FX solutions will be demonstrated at the DV Expo West Show in Booth 440.
Boris Continuum Complete is available through the BorisFX worldwide reseller channel and direct through BorisFX for $795 US SRP. Continuum Complete customers can upgrade from previous versions for $249 US SRP. Continuum Complete and Final Effects Complete (FEC) are available bundled together for $1,295 US SRP. Existing FEC users can purchase BCC for $595. Trial versions of all Boris solutions can be downloaded at www.borisfx.com.
