Edifis launched Finaliser SD, aimed at use for standard definition programming at a lower cost. Also new is Finaliser 444, targeted at customers moving to a 4:4:4 HD infrastructure. It uses dual-link HDSDI video I/O to connect to the Sony HDCAM-SR and similar devices. All systems can be upgraded to the top-of-the-line 2K-resolution color corrector.
Creative Bridge is constructing a new Mobile Digital Lab and Theater, based on the Assimilate Scratch datacentric workflow. When the truck comes online in February 2006, the mobile theatre will offer calibrated viewing of digital dailies and a Digital Lab for cloning, archiving and prepping of RGB 4:4:4 10-bit log data.
Post Logic Studios has hired digital intermediate colorist Frank Roman for its Hollywood-based DI team. Roman was most recently at Laser Pacific Media where he collaborated with cinematographer Vilmos Zsigmond, ASC, on the 4K DI for The Black Dahlia.
The Pixel Farm launched PFClean 1.0, an automatic dust-busting and image clean-up system designed to be used in conjunction with scanned image data prior to VFX, post production and the DI process. Now shipping, PFClean supports Linux, Windows XP, Mac OSX 10.4 and SGI Prism. Multi processor single node license is $22,499 and unlimited multi node rendering (per seat of PFClean) is $7,999.
