Introduces BrightDrive Family of Shared-Media Products

Targeting high-performance digital post applications, Bright Systems (Reno, NV) launched the BrightDrive line of shared-media systems. Starting at $29,950, the BrightDrive product line allows users to access files on multiple platforms at the same time. It’s aimed at digital intermediate work and other demanding post tasks, including uncompressed collaborative editing, 4:4:4 mastering, VFX playback, film scanning, dust and dirt removal, conforming and quality control at resolutions that scale up to 4K in real time.
For maximum flexibility across a facility, client workstations can connect to a BrightDrive using either fibre channel or Ethernet – Ethernet clients map it as a network drive (using standard Windows/SMD or Unix/NFS protocols), and fibre-channel clients see it as a local drive. Clients can use both types of connection with their Windows, Mac OS X, Linux or IRIX workstations, and they are all accessing the same physical disk, meaning any changes made are immediately visible to everyone who’s connected.
Each BrightDrive installation comes with a data management suite that includes Data Mover, Data Optimizer and Data Wrangler software plus remote distributed system diagnostic tools. Optional features include a redundant “high availability” server with automatic fallover software, an additional server to maximize the number of connections available, and a render drive accelerator optimized for render farms.
