Press Release

ShockoeNoise, a new music company led by David Lowery (Frontman for
Cracker & Camper Van Beethoven) and Kristin O'Connor (Founder,
RainMaker Studios and President, Greybox), has launched to provide
original music production and licensing for commercials, television,
features and long format/hybrid advertising. In addition to its launch,
ShockoeNoise is excited to announce the formation of The Noises.
The Noises is the collaboration between ShockoeNoise/Richmond and
BWNoise/Minneapolis & Los Angeles — a collective that provides
original, ground up custom and licensed music to the advertising,
feature film and broadcast communities. The entity has just completed
its first campaign – a multi spot project for Macy's, which is breaking
this month.
"Decidedly evolving marketing needs warrant innovative concepts by
agencies so, no matter the manifestation, music and sound are key."
says Kristin O'Connor. "The Noises (ShockoeNoise and BWNoise) has
proven music and sound experience for national broadcast as well as
renowned facilities for execution. This know-how simplifies and
upgrades the music process for clients by expanded execution ways and
means, talent sourcing, and locales."
The core group – comprised of ShockoeNoise and BWN — accesses
relationships and talent partners from national and international
talent pools. Renowned sound design & mix studios are at the backbone
of both entities, servicing national spot work.
"Following the opening of our Los Angeles studio, we were looking to
expand our reach in a fluid and flexible way," comments BWN's Ken
Brahmstedt. "The Noises does that for BWN connecting us with the team
at ShockoeNoise who we truly like and respect."
"The Noises can work a creative brief against resources or make
catalogs available to producers and creatives on a per-idea basis,"
says Kristin O'Connor. "We will take work to the next level, drive
concept and ignite creative, orchestrate a sound wrap to deliver the
final product for a variety of outlets."
Lowery and O'Connor have collaborated on past projects and, following
the release of new albums for both Cracker and Camper Van Beethoven in
2005, decided to unite formally with ShockoeNoise.
"Knowledge of music business gives us access to artists, talent and a
unique approach to performing services for advertising," says David
Lowery. "Not to mention the branding implications of unique music with
original sense for linking an advertiser, its message and its target."
As the front man for Cracker and Camper Van Beethoven, David Lowery has
been witness to some of the most innovative and intuitive forms of
production in the recording process. His credits as a producer, like
his musical endeavors, span many styles. His current credits include
FSK (sub up), Sparklehorse (Capital), Magnet (PC music), Blue Dogs, the
Seymores (Caroline), Joan Osborne (Interscope), Counting Crows
(Interscope), LP (Koch), Lauren Hoffman (Virgin), Tweaker (Brass
Booty), September 67/Shannon Worrell (superduke), Kitty Snyder (Pitch a
Tent), and Bruce Gruthro (EMI Canada). David Lowery also created the
Pitch a Tent label in his quest to seek new and interesting talent.
Founded by Lowery, recording studio The Sound of Music has carved out a
unique niche in the recording industry as the "Millennium Falcon of
Recording Studios."
Kristin O'Connor is the Founder of sound design and recording studio
RainMaker (www.rainmakerstudios.com as well as President of the
creative editorial company Greybox (www.greybox.cc). Both companies are
located in the Superior Production Exchange, a collection of 22
independent creative businesses housed in a former tobacco warehouse in
historic Richmond, VA. Prior to starting RainMaker and Greybox,
O'Connor was in business development at Viacom and MTV Networks/New
York.
The Minneapolis music and sound company Brahmstedt White Noise formed
in 2002. BWN has since grown to become a premiere music, sound, and
audio house in Minneapolis. Its primary mission has always been to
provide music and sound design services for advertisers and
broadcasters, as well as filmmakers and corporate clients. BWN's
continuing mission is the same, with additional emphasis on concepts
and early involvement in the creative process. Since launching, the
company has widened the scope to include any idea for seeing a job
through — be it initial concept pitching, licensing, licensing with
intent to re-arrange or re-record, long distance collaboration, and the
creation of an online music library for client convenience. BWN has
worked with such agencies as Fallon, Carmichael Lynch, Martin Williams,
Peterson Milla Hooks, Element 79, West Wayne, IDEX, Young and Laramore,
Periscope, Kerker, Colle Mcvoy, Best Buy Advertising on projects for
Porsche, BMW, Citibank, Bahamas Tourism, Jack Links Jerky, Best Buy,
Borders, Tractor Supply Company, Payless Shoesource, Donatos Pizza,
Budweiser, Gatorade, Bell South, The Twins, and Arctic Cat.
