Successful New Line of Modular Protective Carrying Solutions Designed for Professional Videographers and Photographers

First launched in 2004, Kata’s Global Digital Collection (GDC) reshaped
the landscape of carrying solutions for both photo and video, boasting
groundbreaking designs and a unique protective technology that truly
set its offerings apart from the competition. Continuously striving for
higher quality year after year, Kata has advanced its distinguished GDC
line with new models and features, and at NAB 2006, it will introduce
the latest bags and cases for video.
From their ergonomic design to the vibrant, scratch and static
resistant ‘yelloop’ internal fabric, the GDC line stands out from their
less ardent crowd of competitors and has redefined the market of
protective carrying solutions. Like all Kata products, the GDC line is
about much more than just an attractive and aesthetically pleasing
design. These products are above-all a protective solution, enhanced by
Kata’s unique Thermo-Shield-Technology (TST). TST is a state-of-the-art
design that provides the ultimate protection in an extremely
lightweight package. The outer shell of the TST is thermo formed in a
protective “rib shape” construction, and made from a Mil-Std, double
cord Super Nylon to protect expensive photo gear from water, dust and
a host of other potentially damaging elements. Beneath that is a
cross-linked, closed cell PE + EVA shield that shelters sensitive
equipment from shock and impact, while also insulating it from extreme
temperatures and moisture.
Kata Introduces New Organizer Cases
Rugged and sleek, the new OC-82 and OC-84 are two new organizer cases
designed to work hard for today’s hard working professional
videographers. With TST technology on the front and honeycomb
reinforcement around the edge, these cases provide ultimate protection
for the equipment inside. Each case features a shallow compartment for
a laptop or paperwork, a full-sized compartment for video equipment,
and a large, padded, external pocket. The OC-82 and OC-84 are also
supplied with ample modular dividers that allow users to create a
custom fit to meet their exact requirements. Both cases come equipped
with fortified, padded handles, a BSS shoulder strap designed for
carrying flexibility and are compatible with Kata’s Insertrolley
system. The OC-82 can be configured for use with a matte box and
filters or as a lighting bag for a small lighting kit. The larger OC-84
will hold mini-dv camcorder, still camera and accessories, and like the
OC-82, the OC-84 can also be used with a small lighting kit.

Kata’s ground-breaking Thermo Shield Technology (TST) protection with
extra emphasis and attention given to the area for the viewfinder and
microphone. TST, which can be found in its Global Digital Collection,
is a state-of-the-art technology that provides the ultimate protection
in an extremely lightweight package. The outer shell of the TST is
thermo formed and made from a Mil-Std, double cord Super Nylon ® to
protect expensive HD equipment from dust and a host of other
potentially damaging elements. Beneath that is a cross-linked, closed
cell PE + EVA shield that shelters sensitive equipment from shock and
impact, while also insulating it from extreme temperatures and

High-Definition in the Rain: RC-HD-3 ‘ Rain Cover
Rain or shine, life for a videographer does go on. Especially true for
professionals in sports broadcasting, who bear the elements along with
the athletes on the turf, Kata is proud to introduce the RC-HD-3 Rain
Cover for HD. Constructed from a waterproof material, the RC-HD-3
features crystal clear TPU panels on the camera’s control side and
water tight zippers with Kata’s “seam seal technology.” Seam seal
technology ensures that all zippers are water tight, guaranteeing that
the camera and equipment is protected from the damaging elements. The
cover slips quickly and easily over any camera to protect it from
sudden showers and is secured by quick pull drawstrings.
A stiff polypropylene hood shields various lens sizes and types, while
the viewfinder is protected by a flexible sleeve with a strong elastic
cuff. A matte box extension is also provided and can be easily
connected to the lens hood. The RC-HD-3 rain cover successfully
protected cameras and accessories during weather laboratory testing for
severe weather conditions and is the ideal accessory to have on hand to
shield delicate HD equipment from harsh water damage.

Kata Takes Storage and Portability to New Levels With PALMS
Kata’s PALMS are a functional and revolutionary breakthrough in the
design of soft, reinforced cases. Featuring a smooth and low outside
profile, the PALMS are the ideal solution for the storage and shipping
of high-end equipment and accessories. A reinforced plate forms the
base on which are mounted the two halves of the case, each shaped like
the palm of a hand. The design, inspired by the architectural principle
of the arch, provides the ultimate in protection and ensures the safety
of the delicate equipment inside.
An aluminum pole handle allows for balanced carrying even when the
center of gravity changes, and like most Kata bags, the interior can be
customized with Modi-Vers to fit your specific equipment and needs.
PALMS are available in three sizes that permit the carrying of a wide
variety of accessories and sensitive equipment, especially lighting
kits. Lights and power supplies fit conveniently in the main
