Remote Graphics Unit delivers unprecedented quad output, audio, USB and FireWire support

Matrox Graphics Inc., the leading
manufacturer of graphics solutions for professionals, is pleased to announce
the new Matrox Extio(tm) F1420. This multi-display solution is an external
unit that links remotely to the PC over fiber optic cable at distances of up
to 250 meters (820 feet). The Matrox Extio F1420 can conveniently connect
four digital or analog monitors while providing audio, USB, and FireWire
support. These unique functionalities allow for better workspace management,
enhanced productivity and a dramatically improved work environment due to
reduced PC noise.
"The Matrox Extio F1420 enables a new physical layout for computer systems,"
says Caroline Injoyan, business development manager, Matrox Graphics. "The
Extio F1420's ability to support USB and FireWire devices – while delivering
superb multi-monitor support across a four monitor workstation – gives
professionals the flexibility to remove the noisy PC outside the
broadcasting, post-production or sound recording studio to create a quieter,
more productive work environment."
The Matrox Extio F1420, along with the connected PCI or PCI Express (PCIe)
interface card1 located in the host PC, are fanless hardware components
perfect for quiet work environments. The Matrox Extio F1420 is outfitted
with a Matrox-designed graphics chip armed with 128MB of graphics memory, a
dual-LC connector for fiber optic cable, four DVI-I monitor connectors, six
USB 2.0 ports (four in front, two in back), two IEEE 1394 FireWire ports,
integrated audio hardware, an optical connector for digital audio output,
and analog stereo-audio connectors for a microphone input, line input and
line output. The Matrox Extio F1420 also features Matrox's signature quad
digital and analog feature set including support for up to 1600 x 1200 quad
resolution. Bundled software for the Matrox Extio F1420 includes the Matrox
PowerDesk-SE suite, an intuitive interface with unique desktop management
features, and display drivers for Microsoft(r) Windows(r) XP X64 (64-bit),
Windows(r) XP, Windows(r) Server 2003, and Windows(r) 2000.
Matrox Extio F1420 will be available in the third quarter of 2006.
