Studio Network Solutions (SNS), a premier provider of optimized audio/video shared storage products and developer of the globalSAN iSCSI initiator for OS X, today announced a major extension to its product family by unveiling the Ellipse™ and Ellipse Enterprise Fibre Channel HBAs.
The A/V optimized Ellipse 4-Gbps Fibre Channel HBA (Host Bus Adapter) for Mac OS X is immediately available in single-, dual- and quad-port PCIe configurations for Intel- and PowerPC-based Macs. A PCI-X version is also available for PowerPC. The new Ellipse Fibre Channel HBA offers the ability to effortlessly handle uncompressed HD and up to 2K resolution.

“The Ellipse HBA is an exceptional product in terms of performance and value for anyone upgrading their existing storage system or considering a new SAN,” stated Jeremy Strootman, Director of Worldwide Sales at Studio Network Solutions. “With the various HBA configurations available, we have covered all the bases for any Mac-based SAN.”

The Ellipse driver was engineered, tested and optimized for today’s most throughput-intensive video resolutions. Advanced read-ahead and write caching techniques actively minimize dips and spikes in the data stream, thereby enhancing the storage system’s performance for the most demanding video and audio applications.

Bundled with SANmp
SNS is also offering a “perfect match” promotion: the Ellipse/SANmp ® bundle. SANmp software from SNS enables computers to share data over Fibre Channel and iSCSI storage networks. The Ellipse/SANmp product bundle uniquely offers all end-users and system integrators a clean and simple solution that completely addresses the needs for SAN sharing and connectivity in one highly competitive price.
