A first review of Avid Media Composer 3.0

Avid delivered on delivering their next generation of editing products during the month of June. They announced the new line-up at NAB 2008 even though they did not have a booth on the NAB show floor. Media Composer 3.0 arrived for download and shipping boxed versions last week. Larry Jordan over at HDFilmtools.com has one of the first reviews out on the internet. In short, he likes it. He especially liked the support he got when there were install issues. Click over and give it a read. Now Larry Jordan of HDFilmtools.com is a different Larry Jordan than Larry Jordan, Final Cut Pro instructor, guru and Digital Production Buzz host … just so we’re all clear. It’s a small world!

I would like to buy Avid Media Composer as I am reading fantastic stories about it. First of all of course I need to know how easy it is to work with. There is a need of some free tutorials which are a bit more informative than what avid proposes to havem ore clear vision of the program. It would faciliate the decision to buy it. I am educator – it this version the same as for the other users?

Avid is like any other app, once you learn it it is quite easy to work with. The Avid community site has lots of tutorials on the app as well. Check out the Avid Gems series on Pro Video Coalition for great tips. AFAIK, the student version is identical to the retail version though there may be restrictions on upgrades. Your reseller should know the details.
