Blackmagic Converters Provide Big Features in Small Package

Blackmagic Design is now shipping a new family of five Mini Converters that are smaller and more fully featured than ever before. The series includes capabilities like 3 Gbps HD-SDI signal support, redundant SDI inputs, balanced analog and AES/EBU switchable audio, standard 1/4-inch jack audio connections, and a universal power supply that includes adapter plates for all international power sockets.
Each of the Mini Converters has the same basic features, with one model for each type of conversion. They include a Mini Converter SDI to Analog; Mini Converter Analog to SDI; Mini Converter SDI to HDMI; and Mini Converter HDMI to SDI-each priced at $495. A Mini Converter Sync Generator is a black burst and tri-sync sync generator model priced at $295.
For those needing a complete bi-directional conversion solution, the new Broadcast Converter model allows simultaneous SDI to analog and analog to SDI conversion at the same time. It sells for $995.
Each Mini Converter has audio on standard ¼-inch jack connectors, and the audio can be switched between balanced analog and AES/EBU audio. Jack connectors make it easy to use off the shelf cables and a wide range of audio products.
Redundant SDI inputs are designed to be used on live events where crowds could damage cables. If video input is lost, the SDI inputs instantly change. Loop-through SDI allows the SDI input to loop to other equipment.
The 3 Gbps SDI feature allows Mini Converters to be upgraded via the built in USB connection to support new television formats in the future. Built in mini switches allow settings to be changed for audio types, audio de-embedding channels, analog video types and more.
