Cache-A Brings Next-Generation Prime-Cache5 Archive Appliance to IBC
Beefed-Up Version Has a Tougher Chassis, Faster RAID 0 Throughput, and 64-bit Processing
Cache-A is updating its Prime-Cache5 desktop archive appliance at IBC this week, adding a reinforced metal chassis and a 2.5-inch RAID 0 system that the company says doubles disk throughput compared to previous models.
The new system is also running v3.1 of Cache-A's software, with 64-bit processing, high-speed LTFS dubbing, new tape-spanning capabilities, and other features emphasizing ease of use.
The Prime-Cache5, which lets users archive files to tape by simply dropping them onto a network share, has a dual Gigabit Ethernet port, two USB 3.0 ports and four USB 2.0 ports. It's set to ship later this month for $7995.
