Industry Vet Rejoins Now-Independent Company as President and CEO

Tim Thorsteinson is returning to Grass Valley for a second stint as president and CEO, effective immediately, the company said

Thorsteinson previously led Grass Valley beginning in 1996, through an era that culminated with the company's purchase in 2002 by Thomson Broadcast. From there, he became president and CEO of Leitch, president of the broadcast communications division of Harris, and president and CEO of Enablence Technologies.

He replaces current CEO Alain Andreoli, who was put in charge of the company in 2011 to lead its return to independent operation after its acquisition by private equity firm Francisco Partners.

"Tim’s in-depth industry knowledge and his proven track record of value creation will ensure Grass Valley’s continued success as an independent leader in the rapidly evolving broadcast infrastructure market," said David Golob, partner at Francisco Partners and chairman of the board of Grass Valley, in a prepared statement.

"Grass Valley is uniquely positioned to help lead the broadcast industry into the multi-platform era and I am excited to be joining the team," said Thorsteinson in a prepared statement. "I know first hand of the rich history of technical innovation that our customers around the world have come to expect from Grass Valley and I intend to continue that tradition through our powerful product portfolio and best in class solutions."
