Ironically, the key light for this interview is technically on the wrong side.
@ Jeff, it’s on the wrong side if you subscribe to the belief that your interview subject should ALWAYS look toward the key light. It’s a convention (and one that I prefer), but it’s not carved into a stone tablet. Perhaps the interview DP was following the other convention of mimicking the location’s natural lighting with the sunlight coming in from frame left. Either way, not too much pressure lighting Deakins, huh?
The interviewer could of sat on the other side of the camera. Regardless, I prefer a little more fill light, no need to be so artsy for this subject matter.
Who cares?????? It’s about the content here. I didn’t have any lights, besides natural lighting.
