Sydney, Australia-based Animal Logic formalized a move into feature-film development this week, breaking itself up into three distinct divisions.

The company's VFX operations—including Fuel VFX, which it purchased in 2012—will be combined to form Animal Logic VFX. Recent VFX projects for Animal Logic include Iron Man 3, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, and The Great Gatsby.

Animal Logic's animation team, which recently wrapped The LEGO Movie, will continue as Animal Logic Animation. And Animal Logic Entertainment will develop animation- and VFX-driven films. The reorganization was effective as of March 1.

"The consolidation of our VFX teams under the Animal Logic VFX brand feels like a natural and organic next step for the company," said CEO Zareh Nalbandian in a prepared statement. "We are all proud to play an important part in an Australian creative industry that is really proving itself on an international stage."

The company said Animal Logic Entertainment's office was opened in Los Angeles late last year, led by producers Nalbandian and Jason Lust and executives Jonathan Hludzinski and Felicity Staunton.
