Announcement Follows Close Behind Arrival of Krakatoa for C4D

As the annual FMX animation and effects conference got under way yesterday in Stuttgart, Germany, Maxon said it will partner with Side Effects Software to develop a Houdini Engine plug-in for Cinema 4D. The plug-in will give C4D artists direct access to Houdini Digital Assets.

"Creating a bridge to Houdini Digital Assets for Cinema 4D artists underscores Maxon's commitment to provide our customers with an efficient pipeline to other digital content creation tools," said Maxon co-founder and CEO Harald Egel in a prepared statement. "Integrating Houdini's procedural workflow and VFX tools inside Cinema 4D will offer our users a streamlined experience to collaborate with Houdini artists."

Plug-in support for the Houdini Engine comes just a few days after the Krakatoa volumetric particle rendering plugin became available in a new version for C4D R14 and R15.

The companies said the new plug-in should be released before the end of 2014.
