New Version Features More Vector and Curve Control, Plus New 90-Day Free Demo

Assimilate has introduced a version 8.1 update to its file-based color-grading suite Scratch and Scratch Lab. The company says the new version, on display at IBC 2014, will let Scratch users gain greater control over vector and curve accuracy and work faster within the Matrix, the area containing the software's advanced color-grading and compositing toolsets that now include controls for Kelvin, Tint and ISO. Both updated versions of Scratch, the company's full end-to-end DI dailies to mastering system, and Scratch Lab, its on-set production and VFX dailies system, are also available as 90-day free trial versions.

Among the new features are improved color space and metadata support, which will let users tweak, change or fix thousands of shots with just a few clicks. Scratch became available on both Windows and Mac OS X in version 6. Assimilate's Nacho Mazzini is booking demos at IBC (Stand 7.H35) in Amsterdam, as well as in other cities following the show.

Austin's Stuck On On used Scratch to grade Richard Linklater's latest, Boyhood (above). France's Mikros Image, a post facility headquartered in Paris (since 1985) with subsidiaries in Belgium and Montreal, recently purchased a company-wide site license for both Scratch products.
