NEWARK, NJ (June 2, 2015) — Bexel Global Broadcast Solutions, part of Vitec Group’s Production Services business unit and a leading worldwide provider of high-end video equipment rentals, has purchased a dozen Panasonic AJ-PX5000G 2/3-inch P2 HD shoulder-mount camcorders, bringing the company’s investment in the AVC-ULTRA model to a total of 25. Fifteen of the PX5000Gs will be assigned to cover the inaugural European Games that will be held this month in Baku, the capital city of Azerbaijan.

The European Games (www.baku2015.com) is a multi-sport event with over 6,000 athletes from all over Europe. The Games are designed and regulated by the European Olympic Committees (EOC). Twenty sports will be represented, with 253 medal events; many sports will offer qualification opportunities for the Rio 2016 Summer Olympics.

“Our incremental purchases of the PX5000G are indicative of our commitment to the P2 format, as well as the versatility of the camcorder,” said Tom Dickinson, Chief Technology Officer, Bexel Global. “As the industry has moved to all card-based production, there is an expanding future for P2, which got the ball rolling with solid-state media. Bexel Global continues to deepen our ability to serve our clients with a growing array of tools, and the PX5000G is of key importance to us in our expansion.”

“The PX5000G is advanced and versatile, capable of recording in both 1080/720 and shooting 1080/60p, 30p and 24p,” he added. “Switchable between 59.94Hz/50Hz, this is an ideal camera for marquee international events such as the European Games. The PX5000G has been a winner for us in sports, television and documentary production, and increasing our investment in it was an obvious choice.”

Bexel Global continues to field dozens of previous P2 HD models such as the AJ-HPX3100, AJ-HPX2700 and AJ-HPX2000 shoulder-mounts. Dickinson said that the company has also increased its investment in robotics by adding 25 Panasonic AW-HE130 pan/tilt-zoom cameras. “With Power over Ethernet+ and IR acquisition, the HE130 is the ideal camera for reality TV and documentaries,” he said.
