Hammer & Anvil, a line of products sold exclusively by Adorama, launched three new mics and two small audio mixers aimed at shooters looking for new ways to get audio into their DSLRs.

The top-of-the-line mic is the HAAMKENG600 ($140), a 15-inch supercardioid shotgun mic with a directional pickup and a direct-coupled, balanced output. Powered by a single AA battery, it's designed for dialog capture, ENG-style shooting, theater and sound design. It has a shoe mount for on-camera placement and a 1/4–20 thread for attaching to stands, booms, etc.

The HAAMKSLR300 ($110) is a camera-mounted shotgun mic with a pickup pattern that isolates sound in front of the mic and ignores noise from the sides and rear, making it an option for live music recording. Gain is selectable from three settings (-10dB, 0dB, +10dB), and a bass roll-off switch eliminates low-frequency noise when present.  A floating shock mount is integrated with a camera shoe mount, and the mic has a 3.5mm stereo jack and an XLR 3-pin cable. Power is provided by a nine-volt battery for about 100 hours of running time, the company said. Foam and "dead kitten" furry muff-style windscreens are included, and a 1/4–20 mount is available.

A big step down, pricewise, is the HAAMKSLR100 ($40), a condenser mic with a shoe shock mount and a 3.5mm stereo jack. It picks up "live sound in front of a camera," the company said, and also has foam and furry windscreens along with a 1/4–20 mount.

The two audio mixers are the HAAMXSLR200 ($120; above, top) and the HAAMXSLR100 ($70; above, bottom). The XSLR200 has two XLR inputs, and the XSLR100 has two standard mini-jack inputs. Both mixers allow users to blend signals from two audio sources — mics, wireless receivers and preamps, smartphones, and other mixers at line level — to mono or stereo output. The passive design requires no power source. The XSLR100 has a camera shoe mount, and is designed to allow other shoe-mounted accessories to be stacked on top of it, and the XSLR200 has a similar design with 1/4–20 mount and socket on top and bottom.
