JVC announced two new cameras in conjunction with the Sports Video Group summit this week in New York City.

The GY-HM650SC ProHD camera (pictured at top of page) records UTC time-of-day info fetched via satellite as metadata, allowing multiple cameras to be synchronized along with biometric data provided by player tracking devices. JVC also announced a partnership with XOS Digital, which makes the XOS Thunder platform for coaching and analysis. The HM650 allows an operator to add metadata related to types of sports plays via a mobile GUI, which can be interpreted by XOS Thunder, which uses it to automatically categorize and organize clips. Users can also stream footage directly out to analytics over FTP or as a video stream via 4H LTE or Wi-Fi. The HM650 has an integrated 23x Fujinon wide-angle zoom and three 12-bit CMOS sensors, two XLR inputs, a shotgun mic holder, and a wireless mic receiver input. It's expected to ship in January for an MSRP of $6,795.

JVC GY-HM200SP

Also new is the GY-HM200SP (above), a 4KCam camcorder that includes a real-time score-panel overlay allowing graphics to be added to local sports coverage in camera without the use of an external switcher. Score information can be drawn from a mobile device connected wirelessly to the camera, or directly from a venue's scoreboard control via wired or wireless interface. Basic layouts are included, but JVC said it will also customize the overlay with team names and logos. The camera has a 1/2.3-inch BSI CMOS imager, integrated 12x zoom lens, and dual XLR audio inputs and records 4K Ultra HD, 4:2:2 Full HD (50 Mbps), and SD. A new 70 Mbps mode allows 4K footage to be recorded to smaller files using Class 10 SDHC/SDXC memory cards, and a built-in HD streaming engine allows live HD transmission to the ProHD Broadcast server over Wi-FI and 4G LTE. Aimed at schools with limited budgets for gear and crew, the GY-HM200SP is expected to ship in January for an MSRP of $2,795.
