Boris FX said at IBC that it has signed a definitive agreement to acquire rival plug-in developer GenArts.

Boris FX said GenArts Sapphire will continue to be developed and sold along with Boris Continuum Complete and Mocha Pro, acquired in 2014 when Boris FX bought Imagineer Systems.

In a statement, Boris FX founder Boris Yamnitsky said "key GenArts staff from engineering, sales, marketing and support" will take positions at the Boston headquarters of Boris FX.

"We are impressed with the collaborative integration of Mocha technology in the recent BCC 10 release and look forward to exploring similar technology sharing and product improvement opportunities," said GenArts Chief Scientist and VP of Engineering Gary Oberbrunner, who will become Chief Technical Officer for Boris FX.
