Features New Haze-Reduction Technology; Up to 16 Can Be Controlled in One Browser Window via IP

Panasonic said it has begun shipping the AK-UB300, a box-type multipurpose UHD camera designed for applications including sports, remote studio work, traffic and weather, and live production. The suggested list price is $24,995.

First shown at NAB 2015, the UB300 has a one-inch MOS sensor that outputs a 3840×2160 signal at up to 59.94p via 4x 3G-SDI, with the option for a simultaneous HD output. The camera can use standard 2/3-inch B4 lens types without an adapter. It weighs about 3.5 pounds and measures 4.3 inches by 6.3 inches by 5.6 inches.

The camera's HD Cropping feature lets a user crop an HD frame from the 4K capture area — including "pan" and "tilt" functions within the stationary 4K image area — using an AW-RP50 or AW-RP120 remote control. The camera can output four simultaneous H.264 streams or three Motion JPEG streams, with 60p HD video streaming at up to 24 Mbps. Up to 16 cameras can be controlled in a single browser window via live IP monitoring, Panasonic said.

One completely new feature is Panasonic's haze-reduction technology, developed to make the UB300 more useable in outdoor environments where adverse weather conditions can reduce contrast. The camera also has a 2x digital zoom extension and a four-position ND filter (clear, ND4, ND16 and ND64).
