SmallHD said its new 17-inch 10-bit HD reference monitor, the 1703-P3, covers the entire DCI-P3 color gamut.

The 1703-P3 is the company's first reference-grade monitor, and comes pre-calibrated for working in P3 color space with SmallHD's ColorFlow 3D LUT Engine allowing look-up tables to be used on set as part of the color management process. The display has two SDI ins and outs (supporting up to 10-bit YCC 4:2:2 1080p60), one HDMI in and out (supporting up to 12-bit RGB and YCC 4:4:4 1080p60), and a full-size SD slot that lets users load new LUTs into the display.

The display is rated at 450 nits of brightness, a contrast ratio of 1500:1, and a 179-degree viewing angle, SmallHD said.

“It's really all about P3 and color confidence," said SmallHD co-founder Wes Philips in a prepared statement. "This monitor offers true reference grade cinema color, covering 100% of the DCI-P3 color space, which makes it the perfect monitor for DITs on-set and for mastering in post.”

The display has a dual-view mode for viewing the feed from two cameras, or viewing a single camera with different LUTs or tools applied to the two views. The P3 monitor also uses SmallHD's "pages" system to allow users to customize the front-panel "hot keys" for easy access to various views and tools.

The monitor has a variety of standard mounting points as well as a two-pin LEMO power jack for powering wireless accessories. V-mount or Gold-mount battery packs are an option for wireless operation.

The 1703-P3 is expected to ship later this month for an MSRP of $3,999.
