Mac users have a new option for transcoding files as Imagine Products offers the $699 PrimeTranscoder.

Imagine says the GPU-and-multicore-CPU-accelerated PrimeTranscoder works with “virtually all” camera-original formats from vendors including ARRI, Blackmagic Design, Canon, GoPro, Panasonic, Red and Sony.

The software can be configured to run automatically, with rules for processing media in watch folders, or manually, one clip at a time, via drag and drop. The program can be set to transcode to multiple formats at once. For example, you can select multiple presets to output high-quality ProRes files at the same time as more highly compressed clips with LUTs applied and watermarks or timecode.

Edit-ready settings include ProRes 4444 and 422; also supported are Avid DNx and MXF, Windows Media, and Flash.

A free 30-day, 100-clip demo is available.
