Butter Music + Sound, a self-described “creative sonic collective” with facilities in New York and Los Angeles, said it has opened a new office in Berlin.

The Berlin operation will be led by Managing Director Marcus Nelson — who is fluent in German — who opened Butter’s West Coast office after joining the company in 2012. “Berlin and its energy is incredible; it really is the creative mecca of Europe, producing fearless ideas while managing to keep the sacred live/work balance in check,” Nelson said in a prepared statement. “As we continue to lend sonic support through concepting, original composition, music supervision and VO recording, we are grateful to be working with an abundance of creative people in the currywurst capital of the world.”

Also relocating from California will be Creative Director Jakob Rabitsch, a native Austrian musician and composer who moved to the U.S. with a scholarship at Berklee College of Music.

Butter Berlin recently completed work as a music partner — with Pharrell Williams and Saeed Barhoush at Sony/ATV Music Publishing — on “Wir Zusammen,” a short directed by Elliott Rauch at Stink Films for the Refugee Integration Project.
