Once again, Rode Microphones is soliciting entries for My Rode Reel, which it describes as “the world’s largest short film competition.”

Winners in the six major prize categories, which include special awards for young filmmakers, female filmmakers, and behind-the-scenes pieces, will receive a massive amount of gear, including a boatload of Rode mics and other gear plus a three-year “director’s club” subscription entitling the winner to receive every new broadcast and filmmaking microsphone Rode releases during that period. Other prizes are provided by sponsors including Adobe, Atomos, Blackmagic Design, Freefly, Kessler, Miller, Red Giant, Teradek and Zeiss.

Judges include TV presenter Tim Ross, actress-writer-director Matilda Brown, filmmaker Philip Bloom, sound designer Ric Viers, and filmmaker Genevieve Bailey. The contest scored a celebrity endorsement this year from Billy Bob Thornton, who appears as his cranky self in the promo video above.

The entry deadline is Friday, June 30 at 12 p.m. Australian Eastern Standard Time — which translates to Thursday, June 29 at 7 p.m. in Los Angeles, so don’t dally.
