Montreal, Quebec-based VFX house Rodeo FX said it is opening an office in Munich, Germany, giving the company its first foothold in the European market.

The new office will be run by Head of Studio Thomas Hullin and VFX Producer Julie Kubbillun, who have been working together to plan the expansion for the last year, Rodeo FX said. Both have experience in the European market — Hullin is originally from France and had been working in Germany just before taking a position as lead FX artist at Rodeo FX in Montreal, and Kubbillun had most recently been working at Scanline in Munich.

“Munich is a major hub for the visual effects market in Europe,” said Rodeo FX President Sébastien Moreau in a prepared statement. “The new studio will allow us to expand our production capacity, as well as our business development in the European market.”

The new office is at 9 Pappenheimstr. in the city’s Maxvorstadt district. The company said it plans to hire a staff of about 20 for the new facility over the next year. Open positions are listed online.
