The Isilon scale-out NAS platform is coming to the cloud, thanks to a new partnership between Dell EMC and Google Cloud.

Announced at Dell Technologies World last week, Isilon Cloud for Google Cloud Platform (GCP) will provide “a dedicated Isilon infrastructure with secure and sub-millisecond latency network access to GCP Compute Engine clusters,” the company said in a blog post last week.

According to Dell EMC, the offering will allow customers to use the public cloud while still controlling all of their data, with performance similar to on-premise storage systems. The company said cloud-based deployments will use dedicated Isilon hardware and networking in order to adhere to data compliance and security requirements in shared storage environments.

Dell EMC said it will provide 24-hour monitoring, maintenance and support, with additional analytics and compute services available through GCP.

Customers can request inclusion in an early access program as Isilon Cloud for GCP is being rolled out by contacting their Dell EMC rep; a timeline for general availability of the platform was not announced and pricing has not been revealed.
