Of Morphs and Milkshakes: Audio for Terminators

Post your comments below

Terminator is one of Hollywood's more robust franchises, with two sequels thus far (a third, Terminator Salvation, is due out in 2009), plenty of merchandising and most recently Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, the FOX prime-time series about to launch its second season. But such multi-media franchises come with their own baggage - an expectation of continuity that extends well beyond the silver screen. (LucasFilm has an entire department dedicated to continuity across all media for its über-franchise, Star Wars, making sure, for instance, that the color of Obi-Wan Kenobi's light-saber handle is the same in the cartoon, the lunchbox and the book as it was in The Empire Strikes Back.) Audio is a big part of that continuity, and The Terminator made a pretty memorable noise in the process of its signature morphing act.
