JVC updates the GY-HD100U HDV camcorder this month with the release of the GY-HD110U, which replicates the older camera’s design but adds new features including a black-and-white viewfinder mode, the ability to use the viewfinder and LCD display simultaneously, adjustable focus-assist settings, and a menu setting for turning digital noise reduction on and off.

Here’s JVC’s complete list of new features:

  • Black and white viewfinder display mode
  • Simultaneous use of both eyepiece viewfinder and tri-mode LCD display when powered by Anton Bauer or IDX battery system
  • Selectable mirror mode on vertically flipped LCD display
  • Adjustable setting of FOCUS ASSIST function
  • Choice of three image formats on composite out (letterbox, squeeze, side cut)
  • User selectable DNR ON/OFF menu setting
  • 13 segment audio level indicator
  • Manual audio control within FAS (Full Auto Shooting) mode
  • Audio limiter available in manual mode
  • Parallel power off management of DR-HD100 hard disk recorder

The camera is scheduled to be available in “mid July,” so expect to see it soon. The list price is $6295, the same as the HD100U at introduction. More info: pro.jvc.com
