Blackmagic Design expanded its routing switcher line-up with the Studio Videohub ($4995), a new 16x32 SD/HD-SDI/3G SDI switcher targeting small post-production workgroups.

Taking up two rack units (and less than an inch thick), the Studio Videohub is meant to allow users to share broadcast decks, edit stations, and other SDI-based equipment without the explosion of patch bays that come sometimes result from small-studio needs. It has 16 bi-directional RS-422 deck-control ports and uses Blackmagic’s flexible router control software interface for Windows and OS X.

The new Studio Videohub is a low-priced complement to the company’s 8-RU 72x144 Broadcast Videohub ($14,995) and the 16-RU 144x288 Enterprise Videohub ($29,995). All three models auto-detect SD, HD and 3 Gb SDI and simultaneously route 2K, HD and SD video.
