Adobe Premiere Pro CS5 Update Natively Supports .MOV Footage Shot with JVC ProHD Camcorders

JVC Professional Products, a division of JVC U.S.A., today announced the new Adobe Premiere Pro CS5 software version 5.0.2 will provide native file support for .MOV files recorded by JVC ProHD camcorders. This version is a free update for Adobe CS5 customers and is available today at www.adobe.com/downloads/updates/.

Previously, Adobe Premiere Pro CS5 provided native support of .MP4 files and some .MOV files. However, it did not support .MOV files recorded by JVC ProHD camcorders, which utilize the XDCAM EX codec inside a QuickTime wrapper. With the update, Adobe Premiere Pro CS5 offers native support of the format, so any footage shot using JVC ProHD camcorders can be imported directly into the timeline without transcoding or re-wrapping.

“With this update, Adobe enables the innovative and market leading workflow efficiencies of ProHD to Adobe Premiere Pro users,” said Craig Yanagi, national marketing manager, JVC Professional Products. “Adobe Premiere Pro CS5 is one of the most popular NLE systems on the market, so this upgrade will allow even more broadcasters and other video professionals to enjoy the full benefits of JVC’s affordable, file-based ProHD acquisition solutions.”
