Matrox Video Products Group today
announced the immediate availability of four new hardware components in the
Matrox DSX family of HD and SD video and audio components - Matrox X.open,
Matrox DSX LE/CG, Matrox DSX SD, and Matrox MXO-OEM. The Matrox DSX
product line combines codec and effects technologies and a full range of
professional hardware components with a comprehensive Windows XP-based
Software Development Kit (SDK). Significant new software features are also
now available in release 4.0 of the SDK. The Matrox DSX platforms exploit
Matrox's "Power of X" and "Flex" technologies to enable OEMs and developers
to leverage scalable CPU and GPU power to create a wide variety of
cost-effective products and applications including NLE systems,
ingest/playout servers, clip and still stores, graphics/production servers,
automation and master control units, multi-layer compositors, and CATV
barker channels.
"With over 200 OEMs worldwide in four key product categories - NLE, video
server, CG, and clip/still store - Matrox is clearly the leading supplier
of digital video solutions to developers," said Alberto Cieri, Matrox sales
and marketing director. "The new products and features that we are now
shipping open up new possibilities for our current customers and new
markets for the Matrox DSX technology."
Matrox X.open is a small PCI/PCI-x card that unlocks the Matrox DSX SDK
functionality in systems that do not contain Matrox I/O hardware. It is
ideal for software-based NLEs, compositing systems, and transcoding
stations in networked environments.
Matrox DSX LE/CG features an advanced on-board compositor/scaler and an
independent preview channel for video or key output. It is ideal for
character generators, clip/still stores, NLEs, and studio-in-a-box
applications.
Matrox DSX SD is a multi-channel SD analog/digital I/O card. It is ideal
for a wide variety of cost-effective all-in-one applications including
NLEs, ingest/playout servers, clip/still stores, character generators,
automation and master control units, and CATV barker channels.
MXO-OEM is a portable, external box that can be used with a computer or
laptop to output broadcast-quality, frame-accurate, genlocked SD/HD video
and audio. It is ideal for mobile broadcasting, portable NLEs, and digital
signage applications.
The 4.0 release of the Matrox DSX SDK introduces new features for the
Matrox DSX platforms including: field upgradeability for X.mio, advanced
Flex File Reader/Writer modules to support additional file formats, HDV
720p and 1080i support, and improved software 2D DVEs.
