While Apple took the HD post front, Panasonic broke acquisition ground
by introducing a camcorder with vertical resolutions that span 480i to
1080p. The new AG-HVX200 records in DV, DVCPRO, DVCPRO 50, and DVCPRO
HD formats. Not only that, but it can store video onto MiniDV tape or
P2 flash cards, offers variable frame rates to capture fast-speed and
slow-speed action, and has a cine-like gamma curve and color matrix to
emulate the look of film. The list price: $5,995 (without P2 cards);
$9,999 with 16 GB of storage.
