in Adobe Premiere Pro 1.5 keeps pace with the latest advances in professional video technology.
Powerful Editing Tools
With Adobe Premiere Pro, you can create and edit short- and long-format video projects with utmost efficiency
using a rich set of real-time editing tools. Version 1.5 adds new controls, effects, and filters to boost both the creativity and the quality of your work, while other new features simplify tasks and save you time; one major new feature, the Project Manager, saves both time and precious hard-disk space.
Project Manager
The tasks of managing available file space and preparing projects for handoff to others are made easier in Adobe Premiere Pro 1.5. The new Project Manager enables you to quickly collect all files associated with a project and save them as a new project to a separate location. The Project Manager can also reduce the size of a project by excluding unused clips, preview files, and conformed audio files-even unused portions of the clips in your project. You can also opt to automatically rename the copied media files to match the clip names in your project, making associations clearer.
With the Project Manager, you can perform all your editing offline in low resolution for speedier processing,
copy the completed job to a new streamlined project trimmed of all unused content, and then recapture that more compact project in high resolution. This increases productivity by saving both time and precious hard-disk space.
Enhanced audio functionality
Adobe Premiere Pro 1.5 improves positioning and editing of audio clips, and also adds two important new audio effects.
Precise audio editing is made easier with the addition of the Snap-on Sample option. With this option, if you edit an audio file at the individual sample level within a frame of video, you can choose to have future audio edits automatically snap to the same sample level, even when working in frame mode, ensuring exact audio alignment every time.
The already rich set of audio plug-ins included with Adobe Premiere Pro has been expanded to include DeHummer and DeEsser. Important for any truly professional-sounding audio, DeHummer removes unwanted hum that can be introduced by poorly shielded cables, grounding loops, and dimmers, while it leaves all desired frequencies of your audio intact. DeEsser removes excessive sibilance, or hiss from your audio; especially useful when dealing with spoken narration and other voice-overs.
Bezier keyframe support
Use powerful new bezier controls in Adobe Premiere Pro 1.5 to achieve smoother, more natural results in motion paths and the speed at which they are followed, as well as in the velocity of other effects you apply to your video projects.
For example, smooth the path for changes in image position by setting one or more keyframes on your path to bezier, and then adjusting the handles that appear in the Monitor window. Smooth out changes in the speed at which the image moves along that path by setting the keyframes in the Timeline window to bezier.
You can also use bezier controls in the Timeline window to smooth the velocity of changes between keyframes for other any other effects you apply.
For quick smoothing of paths, an Automatic Bezier option is available in both the Effects Controls for motion path controls, and the Timeline for any effects.
Effects Favorites
You’ve always been able to modify effects in Adobe Premiere Pro, but now you can save your favorite settings
for an effect as a preset that you can use again and again. Some presets come already defined for you, and adding your own is easy. Simply set the parameters for an effect as you like them, and then choose Save Preset from the Effect Controls flyout menu. Once you have a preset defined, it can be quickly applied to other tracks and clips, in either the current or a future project. Presets save you time, and serve as a way to guarantee standardization in how effects are applied. The Effects palette also allows you to create new folders
or “bins” in both the top level of the palette and within the Presets folder, making organization of your favorite effects and presets easier.
Advanced 3D effects
True 3D effects that maintain their attributes even when an image is rotated or viewed from another perspective allow you to achieve dramatic results in Adobe Premiere Pro 1.5. ese effects, which reduce the CPU burden by take advantage of cutting-edge graphics processing technology found on advanced display cards, allow you to achieve such striking sequences as rolling an image into a cylinder, and then turning that cylinder on end without losing the rolled effect, or applying a page curl that can be maintained with moving video on both sides, even as the image is rotated in the display plane, or swiveled by another 3D effect.
Auto-color adjustment
Four popular filters that make color adjustment a snap in Adobe Photoshop CS are now also available in Adobe Premiere Pro. ey are:
  • Auto Levels – Defines the lightest and darkest pixels in each color channel as white and black and then redistributes intermediate pixel values proportionately. Auto Levels gives good results when an average distribution of pixel values needs a simple contrast adjustment, or when your video has an overall color cast.
  • Auto Color – Adjusts the contrast and color of an image, neutralizing midtones and clipping white and black pixels based on user-set values. Using this filter is the easiest way to quickly color-correct your video.
  • Auto Contrast – Adjusts the overall contrast and mixture of colors automatically. It maps the lightest and darkest pixels in the image to white and black, which makes highlights lighter and shadows darker. It differs from Auto Levels in that it adjusts all channels equally, rather than each individually.
  • Shadows and Highlights – Quickly improves the contrast of over- or underexposed areas while preserving the overall balance of the video.
Unparalleled Adobe Integration
Tight integration between Adobe Premiere Pro and other Adobe professional software enables unprecedented
efficiency. Work across applications that use and recognize common elements such as keyframes and layers. Easily access and edit the original projects for files you created in another Adobe application and imported into Adobe Premiere Pro, or quickly create new files in those applications with a resolution and aspect ratio that match your project. Familiar Adobe-standard tools and shortcuts make Adobe Premiere Pro easy to learn and efficient to use.
Project-ready Photoshop files
Choose File>New > Photoshop File in Adobe Premiere Pro 1.5, and a new image with the appropriate resolution
and aspect ratio opens automatically in Adobe Photoshop CS. When you finish editing your new image, simply close Photoshop CS, and the file automatically appears in your Adobe Premiere Pro project.
After Effects clipboard support
To move clips quickly between Adobe Premiere Pro 1.5 and Adobe Aer Effects 6.5, you can use the convenience
of copy and paste. You can also copy and paste from either application to Adobe Encore DVD 1.5.
After Effects plug-in compatibility
If you use Adobe After Effects, its plug-ins are now automatically available in Adobe Premiere Pro as well. When you launch Adobe Premiere Pro 1.5, the application checks the Aer Effects plug-in folder and loads all compatible plug-ins for use right in Adobe Premiere Pro. ere is no longer a need to install additional copies of your plug-ins in order to use them in both applications.
Professional workflow integration
Adobe Premiere Pro can be integrated into any professional online or offline video production environment with ease. (See the Project Manager section above for information about using the Project Manager in conjunction
with offline editing to save time and file space.) Import and export AAF and EDL files; enjoy full compatibility with standard and high definition hardware and professional audio standards such as ASIO and VST; and deliver your output for broadcast or for any of a wide variety of media, including DV, DVD, CD-ROM, videotape, and the Web.
Support for Panasonic 24p Advanced
Film and video have long used different standard frame rates, with film at 24 fps and standard video at 30 fps. But more and more professionals are standardizing in both media on the frame rate traditionally used by film alone. Panasonic now offers a new 24P format called 24P Advanced (24PA) in such devices as their AG-DVX100 and AJ-SDX900. Throughout the video production process, Adobe Premiere Pro 1.5 offers support for this new format, in addition to the 24P support found in previous versions. You can create 24PA projects, capture and import 24PA video, play back to a 24PA DV device, and render 24PA footage. The end result is stunning video with the look and feel of film-regardless of your actual final output medium.
You can quickly create new Photoshop files that match your project’s resolution
and aspect ratio by choosing File > New > Photoshop File.
High-definition video support
With the demand for high-definition content growing exponentially, support for this leap in video fidelity is more important than ever. In Adobe Premiere Pro 1.5, you can import, edit, and deliver HD productions using certified OEM hardware with the same interface and editing workflow you use for DV and SD productions. Work in any of the standard HD resolutions, including 480p, 720p, and 1080i.
AAF and EDL import/export
  • Advanced Authoring Format (AAF) – The professional file interchange format known as AAF can help track valuable editing decisions from concept to final rendering, and it wraps all of the elements of a project together for archiving. AAF file support enables professionals to integrate the power of Adobe Premiere Pro into their existing multi-station, multi-application workflows, where they can move projects through various stages of creation and processing with complete control.
  • Edit Decision List (EDL) format – Though lacking some of the richness of the more recent AAF format, EDL remains a powerful and popular standard for many video production professionals. Adobe Premiere Pro fully supports this standard industry format.
