Atlona Technologies released the AT-HDPiX USB-to-HDMI adapter, which it says effectively adds an HDMI port to any Mac or PC computer with a USB 2.0 interface. The box can be hidden behind computers or display screens.

Designed for applications ranging from digital signage to home theater, the HDPiX takes video in at 34 Mbps via USB cable, then outputs it at 720p, or a maximum resolution of 1600x1200 pixels, to an HDTV via HDMI. Audio is transferred via the computer’s 3.5mm stereo output rather than via USB to maintain more bandwidth for video. The audio is then embedded with the video and transferred out on the same HDMI cable.

The HDPiX is slated to ship within the next week at an MSRP of $179.

Would this allow me to output HD files from my computer to my HDTV.I currently use a HDTV connected to VGA as a second monitor, but,I would like to be able to use it as a HDTV to monitor my HD.This will allow me to manually adjust picture settings as this is controlled by the computer when in PC mode.Sincerely;Graham
