We asked 16x9 Inc.’s Jeff Giordano to custom build a digital
cinematography package to complement JVC’s new GY-HD100U HDV camcorder.
Though his two kits don’t include the price of the camera itself
(neither 16x9 Inc. nor its sister company, Band Pro, offers the camera
for sale), these top-notch accessories are ideal for regular HD100U
users, as well as users of other HDV cameras. The dealer also offers
two special 450 HD100U kits, which list for $1,800 and $3,500,
respectively, that include a variation of the items listed below.

Kit 1
Compact and lightweight, the Chrosziel 4x4 Clamp-on Sunshade System
attaches directly to the front of JVC’s standard 16x lens for filter
effects, precision flare control and fine tuning your lighting.
Features include a 16:9/4:3 housing, full-size French flag, filter
stage for two filter holders (one rotating and one fixed combination),
and a 104:85 step-down ring. The Zoe-III zoom control is really easy to
operate as well. It’s got a streamlined, ergonomic design— with three
thumb positions— and a touch-responsive rocker switch that make it
incredibly comfortable. The Lux dimmable on-board camera light is
another smartly designed add-on. It’s one convenient light, without the
need for extra accessories or brackets, that gives you three optoins—
on-board the camera, handheld and stand-mounted.

Chrosziel’s full-blown professional HDV Mattebox Kit, ideal for
4x4/4x5.650 filters, has been engineered to work with all lens models
currently being offered by JVC (standard 16x, 13x wide angle zoom, and
0.8x wide angle converter). The ultimate Studio Rig Follow Focus is
based on the same technology used in full-size cinema systems. The Noga
HoldIt is a one-touch, articulated system that can be adjusted to
virtually any angle, then locked solid; it’s ideal for holding an
external LCD monitor.
