Thomson is introducing a new addition to its Grass Valley EDIUS line. Coming in at a lower price point than the EDIUS SD or EDIUS HD, the EDIUS SP SDI is offered as a complete turnkey package.
The EDIUS SP SDI uses PCI Express acceleration and broadcast quality input and output interfaces and SDI interconnection for standard definition (SD-SDI). Because it also has a FireWire I/O, you can input and edit HDV, either natively or by converting. You can even edit full 1920 x 1080 HD, but would have to ingest as a file format (via REV PRO or similar).
The base software for the EDIUS SP SDI is EDIUS Broadcast NLE version 4.1, which supports multiple layers and multiple formats in real time.
EDIUS SP SDI is now available in an HP workstation, which includes a REV PRO drive for content interchange. $12,999
