Digital Anarchy has just released a cartooning filter suite to help free up artists from time-consuming techniques such as hand painting, rotoscoping and Action sets. ToonIt! 1.0 creates cartoon-like images from video footage, photographs and still images, using advanced algorithms from Toonamation to create cartoon shading and lines. Effects include Flat Cartoon, Graphic Novel, Line Art and Pen & Ink. ToonIt! is available in two packages, one for video/motion apps (such as After Effects and Final Cut Pro) and a second for Photoshop and Photoshop Elements. ToonIt! is now available. $295 (AE/FCP); $149 (Photoshop).
What a waste of money. This program is so slow you will lose the patience to experiment or explore. I don't have a couple of days to produce a 10 minute video. Try the software before you buy it. I made the mistake of buying it because of the hype. If someone would have posted something like I am, I would still have $300 to spend on any number of nice software packages out there. There is no return policy at all. Even though I was extremely disappointed with the software, Digital Anarchy would not even give me a credit toward another piece of their software. Try it and you'll see what I mean.
