Smart Advice
If you like using Clip Notes to send a rough cut to clients with previous versions of Premiere Pro, you can continue to do so in CS3. Clip Notes is back with a certain clean interface and clip markers that get instantly translated from client e-mails onto your timeline.
Adobe calls its clip bins "Project Panels." Now you can create and have multiple bins, or panels, open at the same time, not just within the same panel. This is a much more comfortable— and easier — way to edit.

Mac users, Premiere is back. But this isn’t that old crash-prone and worn-out Mac Premiere from days gone by. This is now Premiere Pro CS3, a completely re-written and supercharged video editing software app that might surprise you. Because the software won’t be shipping until sometime in Q3 of this year, we tested a feature-complete beta version of Premiere Pro on both Mac OS X and Windows XP, and were impressed with its powerful feature set and easy-to-use interface.
Access to the last 90 days of content is always free. Paid subscribers can access older stories as part of their membership.
With Adobe Clip Notes, you can export a video sequence as an Adobe PDF file with embedded or streamed video and E-mail it to your client for approval. They can view it with Adobe Reader, enter their comments, and E-mail it back.
Time Remapping
Time Remapping lets you precisely slow down or speed up a clip on the timeline by adding a keyframe. Then you can finely adjust the effect with the blue handles you see here, and by adding more keyframes for variable speed effects
Encore
Once you’re done creating menus in Encore, you can export your content to DVD, Blu-ray, or even create an entire Flash SWF file that can be used on a Flash Web site. Getting the files to Encore is easy — select Export to Encore in Premiere Pro, and it opens in Encore, complete with chapter markers you’ve set in Premiere Pro.
Premiere Pro Mac and PC comparison screen shots
Most of the effort in this revision cycle of Premiere Pro was consumed by porting the app to the Mac, and Adobe’s done a remarkable job. It’s almost impossible to tell which OS you’re using unless you look at the title bar at the top. Here you see the Mac and PC versions compared side-by-side in their Standard configuration. There are four workspace presets included, and the ability to create and save your own custom setups as well.

at first i was excited to see time remapping in premiere, but then i discovered that you can't time remap the audio. when you use this function in afx, the audio stays in sync (which makes for a very cool effect on ramped slo-mos) why must adobe taunt me like this? i almost didn't have to go into afx for my slo-mo clips, but to me if the audio isn't being remapped then the tool is useless.
