WHY I LOVE IT: The drudgery of the most important part of my animation, the lip-sync, was the thorn that would keep me from finishing it. I’d draw the characters and sets and the story would seem great and ready to go, but the facial animation was always painstaking. That was until I found the light in a little piece of software called Crazy Talk.
This simple, yet powerful gem has saved time and energy in more ways than I can count. First of all, it does what it says it does— morphs facial animation technology to create in-sync speaking characters, and that’s saying a lot these days. Crazy Talk allows me to not only add life to my characters, but emotions as well. It’s simply amazing.
I have a lot of software that eventually forces me to belt out some expletive because of an error, a crash or whatever, but Crazy Talk does the job. Just load your character’s head, conform the Crazy Talk face points to the head, add the audio and there you go.
You need your character to be sad, mad or happy? No problem. Crazy Talk creates emotions for your character and has a slew of emotions to mix and match. Now I can belt out the characters— heck, I even enjoy doing it.
