Producer Keith Collea talks about the techniques employed on The Gene Generation, from pre-production all the way through to screening the film, to make this futuristic, sci-fi thriller on a shoestring budget. Well, a $1.5 million shoestring. This included going to Bulgaria for most of the films visual effects, to Greece for the film out and using the AJA i/O HD to screen the film.

I disagree that the off the shelf products Keith Collea mentioned are consumer products. That may have been the case a decade ago, but now even major post houses are using Photoshop, After Effects and Final Cut Pro in their pipeline.

The high end and the low end are meeting in the middle.
