Details

You’re called a lot of things, which might include go-getter or gofer. A P.A. is a freelance, non-union position and usually the lowest paid, especially for the amount of work you will do. You will work either as a day player, that is, a person hired on a day-to-day basis, or for the “run of the show.” You’re inserted into the equation that is a particular job and assigned tasks to help move the production along.

You're the production assistant. This is your entrée to the world of film and television production.

During the past 20 years, author Mark Adler has developed his creative and organizational skills in positions ranging from production Manager and Director to Producer and President of VAIdigital - a video support company for the film industry. At present, Mark divides his time between managing VAIdigital and building the Michigan Production Alliance, a trade organization focused on attracting more work to Michigan, training entry level professionals and public speaking on the subject of film and video production in Michigan.
