Spotlight on NAB: Imagineer to Debut Mogul

Post your comments below

Imagineer Systems, the 8-year-old company known for its standalone rotoscoping and tracking software mokey, motor and mocha, will introduce at NAB a VFX engine, called mogul, that blends editing, compositing, rotoscoping, 3D design and modeling features into a single open, collaborative VFX architecture. Comprised of a core of system-level elements— including a shared storage management system, a browser-based file system for working with both media and metadata, a finishing system and a dedicated I/O— mogul can be customized with a series of modular desktop apps that plug into its 3D engine for rotoscoping, 2D and 3D tracking, paint and node-based compositing. Pricing will be scalable on a subscription basis and will cover software, hardware and software or hardware maintenance. The idea, says Imagineer, is to make mogul and its various parts more affordable than the cost of standard multi-year leases or large investments up front in software and hardware for each of these ultimately connected tasks. Prices TBA. www.imagineersystems.com
