I am looking for subtitling shortcuts. Is there a way to create a file that translates a one hour documentary, for example, and then you can import the text back into FCP to create subtitles?

thanx for the tips, very helpful. a problem i have in makin subtitles is that after rendering, it's rather blur n make it difficult to read. I understand it's a elementary prob in FCP with interlacing but do u have any tips to help it just bit better?

thanx, Trang

The problem of subtitles is that it is often pages of text which you have to manually slice into subtitle fragments and then position it on the screen. i think there should be a smart template that does that work for you - and we just have to go through the timeline, check and adjust. in online video studios there are hardware tools who do this work.

hey how about converting that into SRT subtitle format. Is there any option in FCP for extracting only the subtitle.

@Agent Smith: choose File –> Export –> XML then load the resulting XML file into "Subtitle Xtractor" which you can find here:

So for multilingual video translation & subtitling projects, with most outsourcers supplying PC-generated files such as SRT or ASS timed texts, how does one import these into FCP?
