Animation Studio Plans to Boost Original Content Production

Renegade Animation has tapped entertainment sales and marketing specialist Al DiNoble to head new business development. DiNoble, whose background includes senior marketing posts with Cynergy, Eastman Kodak’s Cinesite and MetroLight Studios, will seek to grow Renegade’s film and television business and create opportunities for it in new markets, including location-based entertainment and new media applications. He will also seek to develop third party business relationships for the production and distribution of original animated content.
DiNoble’s arrival is part of a broad-based plan by Renegade to expand its role as an original content creator. The company has produced several animated television series for Cartoon Network, including the upcoming Mr. Men and Little Misses and also recently produced its first full-length animated feature, Christmas Is Here Again! That experience has enabled it to build a pool of talent and resources that can be applied to a variety of media. Most significantly, Renegade has developed a proprietary cross platform digital animation process that has enabled it to dramatically lower the cost of producing high quality animation.

“We have created a very special resource,” said Ashley Postlewaite, the company’s executive producer. “We have a terrific team of artists, and we have found a way to combine the best of current technology with classic technique to maximize efficiency, without sacrificing creative integrity. As a result, we can undertake projects that the major studios can’t and produce great animation for platforms such as cell phones and internet applications that would otherwise be cost prohibitive.” Postlewaite noted that Renegade is currently working with interactive gaming specialist Cecropia to develop an animated game platform that can be tied to advertising.

For his part, DiNoble said that he was attracted to Renegade by its experience and intrigued by its potential. “It is a 15-year-old company with a reputation for quality and a history of delivering content to the film, television and advertising markets,” he said. “They bring expertise that can be applied to new areas. It’s time for this company to spread its wings.”

DiNoble has served as a sales and marketing consultant to companies in various segments of the entertainment industry including the visual effects house Zoic Studios and D-Box, a maker of motion-based seats for theatrical presentations. He previously served for six years as a sales, marketing and new business consultant to software developer Cynergy, Inc. He served for three years as executive vice president for worldwide marketing and communications at Eastman Kodak’s Cinesite and eight years at MetroLight Studios as vice president of marketing, sales and business development, and later as general manager. His background also includes senior sales posts with Pacific Data Images and Boss Film Studios. He began his career with Robert Abel & Associates.
