Default Folder X, today on MacZOT

This is one of those Useful Tools for Editors that I can’t live without. Default Folder X makes the Mac’s open/save dialog boxes 100% more useful than they used to be. You get menus that give easy access to recent folders you’ve visited as well as favorites right from the dialog box. It provides a lot of information below as well with a preview, comments and an information button with the ability to change permissions and labels on files, folders and documents. But my favorite feature might be the one-click access to open windows. If you have a window open in the Finder just hover you mouse over that window when an open/save dialog box is present and with one click Default Folder X will jump to that directory. It works with multiple windows as well.

The only issue I’ve ever had with it is that on occasion it will seem to leave the dark gray outline above behind after you close a dialog box. A quit of the program makes it go away. A minor annoyance but well worth it IMHO. Regularly $34.95 it’s featured today on MacZot for $19.95. The MacZot promotion is over but this is still a very useful tool so go here to check it out. Worth. Every. Penny.
